Katsina Govt launches probe as fire guts Government House

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has set up a committee to investigate the fire outbreak at the Government House complex.


Reports indicate that the fire incident which occurred in the early hours of Monday, damaged a substantial portion of the conference hall attached to the Governor's office.


A statement from office of the Secretary to the State Government said that firefighters were able to control the fire before it escalated to other parts of the building.


The nine-member committee, according to the statement, is expected to identify the cause of the fire and extent of damage done as well as identify any lapses and recommend ways to avert future occurrence and her a week to submit its report.


The statement named the Head of Service, Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Commissioner for Budget and Planning as well as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice as some members of the committee.
